19 Places to Visit Before TEOTWAWKI

North Korea and America are beating the war drums and a nuclear war might just be around the corner. We do not want to alarm our readers but these nuclear threats by both countries are real. If a nuclear war really breaks out, it might be The End of The World as We Know It (TEOTWAWKI).

While we all can pray that our dear leaders would do the right thing and let common sense prevail, we all know no one wins in a war. Before the Shit hits the Fan (SHTF) we have jot down a list of “19 Places to visit before TEOTWAWKI.”

While this is not an extensive travel list, here are some of the places we would love to visit.

Machu Picchu, Peru

While we are not fans of trekking, Machu Picchu is a place we would love to visit. Like the Incas back then, we would not want to be known in the history books as a community that abandon our place on earth because of the choices of our leaders. 😛

Sudur-Tingeyjarsysla, Iceland

Iceland have been in our travel bucket list for a very long time. From the auroras and hot springs, we have always been captivated by this country but have not yet gotten a chance to travel there. And with the recent increase in tourist taxes, we are not sure when our dreams would come true.

Great Barrier Reef, Australia

Scientists believed that due to global warming, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia might not survive this century and the avid diver in us might never get to experience this beauty. If you are an avid diver like us, now is the time.

We managed to spent a night in Beijing before our honeymoon in Mongolia but did not managed to catch the Great Wall of China as we spent most of our precious time there stuck in a traffic jam.

Beijing, we will be back!

One of the top things to do on my bucket list would be to dive in the Silfra in Iceland. The Silfra is a rift formed in the divergent tectonic boundary between the North American and Eurasian plates. The highly filtered groundwater is exceptionally clear and you can actually touch both the tectonic plates at the same time!

Lake Baikal in Winter

According to the hit tv show Top Gear, Transfagarasan in Romania is the world’s best road trip. We would love to ride our motorcycles around the twisties. The Transfagarasan mountain road is 90km long and is a part of the Transsylvanian Alps.

Hopefully we don’t see any Draculas.

We love our cuppas in the morning and teas in the afternoons. We believe the better way to learn about the teas we drink is to pick the tea leaves ourselves. And of course to indulge in the cool weather too.

Darjeeling here we come!

We read from some Singapore travel bloggers that the only flag missing at Salar de Uyuni is the Singapore flag. Maybe we could be the first Singaporeans to plant a flag there? Hmmm

Love it or hate it, The Pyramids of Giza is one of the most iconic places on earth. While there can be tons of tourist traps in the area, as informed by one our well travelled friend, we would love to see it for ourselves before we kick the bucket.

Sea of Stars, Vaadhoo Islands, Maldives

The sea of stars are actually plankton that create their unique illumination via electric signals in their cell membranes. We wonder whether we would illuminate ourselves if we happen to digest some of them.

The Stonehenge is a British Icon and Scientists till today have not managed to understand its existence. We probably think it is an art installation by our bored forefathers millions of years ago.

Venice

While we love our road trips, Venice is a place we would love to visit and just lay back in a boat an enjoy the view and ride. While most of the original inhabitants have left the area to more cheaper locations, we hope to visit it one day before it becomes a worse tourist trap city.
