02 – Our Overland Adventure starts from Johor Bahru

Our first video went mini viral yesterday, and we’re still a little stunned.
A number of friends and family messaged us with well wishes, and it really warmed our hearts.
Thank you, truly.
Knowing so many of you are cheering us on makes the whole journey feel even more real.
A lot of you also had loads of questions: about the route, the Hilux, the planning, how we pulled this off, and what happens next.
We love the curiosity!
We’ll try our best to reply to your messages and comments, but no promises if we’re feeling lazy like a Fat Starfish.
Please bear with us, and know that we read everything.

Today is our slow day, and we’re making the most of it from our base at Hard Rock Hotel Desaru.
We have been wanting to check out this resort for a very long time.
The room we got was clean and situated at a quiet corner. The heated pool with underwater music was just amazing!
There’s no driving, no packing and no schedule. We took our time over the buffet breakfast spread, played a few games, and spent a good while in the pool.
We managed to leave the children at the ‘No Parents Allowed’ Kids Club!
We squeezed in some exercise as we need to keep the energy up for the long road ahead and a little home schooling too, because learning doesn’t stop just because we’re on an adventure.
Mostly, we just lepak.
And it’s funny how time flies, even when you’re not doing much at all.
The hours slip by between a swim, a snack and a game, and suddenly the day is almost over.
These quiet, easy days are part of the journey too.
They give us a chance to breathe, reset and take it all in before the next stretch of road.
More soon.
