My Birthday Dinner @ Wakanui Grill Dining
9th January was my birthday and Ann decided to surprise me with a steak dinner at one of our favourite steakhouses, Wakanui Grill Dining.

I brought her to Wakanui before for her birthday when the restaurant was located at Boat Quay and she decided to return the favour for my birthday as both of us really love the 21 days aged steak here cooked over Bichotan charcoal as well as the Lamb Chops too.
The restaurant, however, has moved to a Central Business District location at Marina One The Heart West Tower with a fine dining concept compared to the Boat Quay location.
As you walked into Wakanui, you will be greeted by the rows of aged meats in the dryer which will literally whet your appetite.
As usual, we ordered the 21 days aged ribeye steak together with a half rack of Lamb Chops meticulously grilled over Bichotan charcoal by their chef. Both the steaks and lamb chops were cooked to medium rare, just the way both of us liked it.
The 21 day aged steak never cease to amaze us with the marbling and tender cuts that melts in your mouth. The Lamb Chops were again top notch and so far we have not come across any no other restaurant has even matched the quality of the meats here.
We also ordered the sauteed mushrooms as well as hand-cut potato wedges with truffle oil to accompany our steaks making our steak dinner feels all complete.
As it was my birthday, the executive chef Ryohei Kenyoshi, came out from his busy kitchen to personally wish me. I was quite surprised and it was not even planned by Ann.
We chatted awhile and as we just came back from our Japan Campervan Adventures, we talked about his home country and the different Wagyu meats we had there. 🙂
To end the night, we ordered the Baked Rare Chocolate Cake for dessert served with a dollop of house-made strawberry ice cream. The chocolate cake is sinful and very rich but the sourness of the strawberry ice cream balances the dessert very well.
It was truly a great night with a great steak dinner accompanied by Ann and I feel truly blessed.
Let’s hope that this year would be better than the past years.
Till next time.
