It was only last week that we posted on our blog looking for a cheaper, smaller version drone to bring along on our travels and DJI surprise us with the new DJI Spark.

The new DJI Spark is smaller than other quadcopters on the market, it fits in the palm of your hand and way way smaller than its bigger brother the DJI Mavic.

It will be available in June 2017 and the base model starts from USD$499. The DJI Spark shoots on High Definition video with a 2-axis gimbal stabilizer. It can fly over 40km/h and the batteries can last up to 16 minutes. Not fantastic like the DJI Mavic but we do love the size and simplicity.

The cool feature about the DJI Spark is that you can control the drone with gestures from your hands. This allows you to snap cool overhead photos/selfies with just simple hand movements. Check out the video above to learn more.

We are really excited about this DJI Spark. However, it would not be available on time for our Sri Lanka trip this upcoming June holidays. 🙁

Yes we are heading to Sri Lanka this 3rd of June!

DJI, can you loan us the Spark? Can you hear us?? Hehe
