Bickering Over Bickertons – Start of Our Riding Adventures

obike, bicycle sharing app

Ann and I have been riding leisurely around Singapore a lot lately with the various bicycle sharing apps. As the bicycles can very quite heavy and not built for long distance riding, we have been thinking of getting 2 personal bicycles for ourselves.

We were looking for a bicycle that is a good brand, light, multi gears and preferably the foldable types as we would want to store it in our van so that we can drive out and ride further away from our house.

After looking online for prices, the brands we were looking at like Tern and Dahon were a little out of our budget. Our friends who are seasoned riders recommended us to check out used branded foldable bicycles on Carousell as well as Facebook Marketplace.

We got this Bickerton Portable 1707 for $180!

After looking for some time, we came across a person selling his Bickerton Portable 1707 on Facebook Marketplace for less than half the price he bought it for. We immediately contacted the person and sealed the deal straight away.

Bickerton Portables is a United Kingdom brand and since 1971, they have sold more than 600,000 lightweight folding bikes for multi-mode commuting; made from the latest aluminium-alloy materials and we were very thrilled about our buy.

Our friends were quite jealous though that we got away with a sweet deal. 😛

About 2 weeks later, we found the exact same Bickerton selling for $240 on Carousell and of course we had to buy it as we have been bickering (pun intended) a lot lately on who gets to ride on the Bickerton during our leisurely cycles! 😆

Finally, now we have two Bickerton Portables 1707 in red. We did not plan to have the same exact bicycle with the same exact colour and our friends have been teasing us about our “couple bicycle.”

We have been out riding to a couple of Park Connector Networks (PCN) as well as checking out food places along this trails. It is quite fun to exercise as well as enjoying the food without feeling guilty about the calories.

Well, this could be the start of more bicycle riding blog posts and adventures on Fat Starfish. We are extremely excited about our upcoming adventures on our Bickertons.

Does anyone want to join us for a ride?

Hi there, we are from My Bike Shop and I suspect you bought your bikes from us. If not – our apologies for being presumptuous. Could we have permission to post your blog and share your very nice images on our Facebook?
