Our Krabi Beach Holiday That We Practically Did Nothing Much

Ann has been wanting to go on a holiday but she was feeling the blues and under the weather after a molar tooth extraction. But that did not stop her enthusiasm in making all the bookings for our Krabi beach holiday.

We flew via Flyscoot to Krabi, booked a 4 Star accomodation named Sugar Marina Resort Krabi Cliffhanger; which was truly an amazing place.

We realised that the last time we were in Krabi was more than 5 years ago where we rode our BMW motorcycle there and a lot of things have changed in Krabi since. Things are getting more expensive and loads of new shops and resorts have sprouted near Ao Nang beach which we always frequent.

As Ann was nursing a swollen face from her tooth extraction, that did not deter us from checking out a few places in Krabi even though we were feeling lazy and wanted to just do nothing.

We had an amazing time at Sugar Marina Resort Krabi and we actually cancelled all our touristy plans such as island hopping.

Every day we would have breakfast, lepak by the beach, have a swim in the outdoor pool of the resort and a short nap after. Then we would repeat it all over again after our nap just before lunch.

If only every holiday is as relaxing as this. 🙂

Catch the sunset every damn day

As we are not early risers, we make it a point to catch the sunset every day before we head for dinner. We would head to Ao Nang beach where tourists will gather near the Marlin Meeting point and just watch the sun setting in the distance.

We realised that these are the little things in life we enjoy and we hope to spend more time with each other catching sunsets in different parts of the world.

Pakarang Vintage Cafe

We rented a motorcycle from the many shops outside our resort and had a short ride to Krabi town where we wanted to check out a 2nd hand bookstore cum cafe named Pakarang Vintage Cafe.

The cafe is situated by the river and it can be easily found via Google maps. There are many 2nd hand books on display as well as the usual souvenirs for sale.

Banana Toast with ice cream topped with condensed milk. Sugar rush!

We spend a few hours at Pakarang Vintage Cafe checking out the many books on display as well as had some desserts and not forgetting a nice tall glass of Thai Iced Tea.

A nice way to have a relaxing time with your other half in Krabi.

Gastropod Fossil Site

Gastropod fossil site, also known as Susaan Hoi, the Shell Cemetery or Shell Fossil Beach is an attraction well known in Krabi.

We rode our motorcycle under the hot tropical sun to reach this spot during high tide only to be informed that the the fossilized shells that are embedded in the rocks in Ban Laem Pho which dates between 40 million years to over 75 million years can only be seen during low tide!

With Ann nursing a swollen face, we snap a few photos, left the place and decided to head to the beach instead.

Klong Muang Beach

There are many beaches in Krabi and we decided to look for one that is most deserted and with no tourists. We found one named Klong Muang Beach which is situated about 20 minutes ride away from Ao Nang.

There were no one at the beach that day except the occasional tourist as well as a cat. 😛 We spend the day here swimming, sun tanning by the beach and a short nap.

There are a few street vendors along the beach too and we had one of the best Phad Thai here.

Ao Nang Street Food Night Market

There are tons of street food night markets everywhere now in Ao Nang and we would frequent one every night for our dinner.

The street food night market we like the best is situated along Aonang Sunset Hotel.

Tom Yum soup, Phad Thai and cheap delicious BBQ seafood can be found here. This particular stall would let you choose the seafood and will cook it to your style or liking.

It was like having our own personal chef every night!

Every night Ann and I will gorge all the seafood and street food till our hearts content. Grilled mackerel, clams, mussels, Phad Thai noodles and a steaming bowl of Tom Yum soup.

Nothing more you can ask for.

And we would end the dinner with some dessert like the Aonang Ice Cream Roll among the many other street food available.

Do check out this street food night market if you are a foodie like us. Address below.

Thai Pancake

Every night without fail Ann would head to the street vendor uncle on a motorcycle just outside our Sugar Marina Resort to get her daily dose of Thai Banana Pancake with Nutella so that she can sleep peacefully for the night. Well that’s what she said.

Happy wife = Happy Life 🙂

Swinging good time

To sum it all up, we had an amazing time for our Krabi beach holiday even though we cancelled all our island hopping plans and just laze around the beach as well as indulge in all the street food Krabi has to offer.

Given another chance, we would probably do the same kind holiday where we would do practically nothing much and fully recharge ourselves.
