Our Sweet Memories at Sugar Marina Resort Krabi
It was the school holidays again and Ann has been bugging me to bring her on a holiday. As both of us have been craving for some good Thai food and a beach holiday, we decided to pack our bags and head to Ao Nang, Krabi. We realised that the last time we were in Krabi was nearly 5 years ago and we cannot wait to see what’s in store in Krabi.
We want to indulge in all the Thai food, do pretty much nothing and laze by the beach while creating memories with each other. #lazebythebeacheverydamnday 😛
Usually, we would book Ao Nang Sunset Hotel which we were very familiar with but Ann decided to spice up our Krabi itinerary by checking out a different hotel instead.
Enter Sugar Marina Resort Cliffhanger
Situated just minutes away from Ao Nang Beach, Sugar Marina Resort Cliffhanger is a 4-star accommodation with modern stylish rooms, year-round outdoor pool with amazing views of limestone formations and sunsets.
It is about 25 km from the Krabi International Airport and we were in awe as soon as we reached the resort. The building is situated on an elevated hill and the building is built on cliffside hence the name Cliffhanger. The resort is also situated on the busy main street where all the street food and amenities are as well as a few minutes walk to the beach.
- Tip: Get a high floor room instead of the room with the pool entrance for more quiet moments.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They upgraded our room, gave us tips and advice touring Krabi and even handed us a room on a higher floor as it will be quieter.
Our room comes with a great view of the limestone hills nearby and we could sit at the balcony looking at the sunsets every day. The room comes equipped with Wifi, TV and all standard amenities to make your stay a very pleasant one. There are free parking lots too and we saw a couple of bikers from Singapore making full use of this service.
There was one night on our stay where the whole city was affected by a major blackout. However, Sugar Marina Resort is one of the few accommodations in the area with a backup generator that provided power to the resort as well as Wifi!
Our room was so comfortable that Ann and I cancelled all island hopping plans and just wanted to laze around on the bed after a swim at the outdoor pool.
Everyday Ann and I would wake up early, go for breakfast, walk by the beach, head to to the pool and have a satisfying nap after.
And we repeat again when we wake up for lunch! If only life is this simple.
One of the little thoughtful items that the hotel provides is a beach mat and a sling bag to match; something we always forget to pack for our beach holidays.
We use it every day when we are at the beach and it is these simple thoughts that make Sugar Marina Krabi a great resort where putting the customers need a top priority.
Overall, we were delighted that we chose Sugar Marina Krabi Resort Cliffhanger for this trip. We had no regrets and we had an enjoyable stay here while making a lot of sweet memories.

What a beautiful looking pool at the Sugar Marina Resort. I just wish that the folks in those hotel rooms were given some privacy. It’s like face to face they’re so close. hehe.
Sugar Marina Resort is really interesting how the pool runs the length of the rooms. You could just step in the pool directly from your patio. What a fun and relaxing trip!
