Our Amazing Time at Double Tree by Hilton JB

It was Ann’s birthday and we as a family decided to go on a short holiday across the causeway to Johor Bahru. Ann wanted to check out The Double Tree by Hilton and of course, that was where we went!

We left Singapore on a Thursday afternoon and took our car to the Woodlands custom, and even though it was jam-packed, the flow of traffic was smooth and fast. We cleared customs within an hour, and in less than 10 mins we reached The Double Tree by Hilton which is situated a stone’s throw away from the Custom Checkpoint.

Upon check-in, we were presented with a warm chocolate chip cookie. It is a tradition at all Double Tree hotels.

Seth and Nadine were loving it but the parents did not manage to get a taste of it. 😛

As we went up to our room, we were greeted with a Birthday card for Ann as well as a cake.

Seth and Nadine were of course in awe of their holiday and immediately jumped onto the King sized bed and later gobble up the complimentary cake.

A great start to the holiday!

We got a room with a King-sized bed with a view of the pool and the room includes:

  • A 40-inch flat-screen TV
  • Personal Safe
  • Tea/Coffee making facilities
  • A pillow menu for our comfort
  • Toiletries & Bathrobes

Overall the rooms were nicely furnished and superbly clean. It is nicely located in the heart of Johor Bahru with shops, places of interest, and amenities in abundance. Double Tree by Hilton also provides a complimentary shuttle service to our favourite shopping place, The Mall Midvalley Southkey.

However, the only downside for Seth was he could not cast his favourite Youtube videos to the huge TV as it does not support the Apple IOS. 😛

The next day, we had our breakfast at The Makan Kitchen which serves buffet breakfast of Asian and International fare. I was in love with the Nasi Lemak by The Double Tree.

Fragrant coconut-infused rice is served with anchovies, a variety of sambals, and amazing dishes of the day like the Chicken Rendang and deep-fried cow lungs. As we stayed for 2 nights I got to taste some of the best dishes to pair with the Nasi Lemak.

Ann loved the variety of buffet spread on offer and Seth was having a ball of a time eating ice cream for breakfast!

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

After breakfast, we would head to the large outdoor pool and have tons of fun splashing around and dipping our toes in the water. Although it was Ann’s birthday, the kids seem to have the most fun on this trip.

The video above says it all.

As for me, I am already craving the Nasi Lemak again! Till next time.

Safe travels wherever you are.
