Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut – Delicious Deep Fried Duck, Fiery Sambal & The Elusive Deep Fried Duck Skin

Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut is a restaurant chain from Bandung, Indonesia that specializes in serving traditional Indonesian fried duck. The restaurant is more commonly referred to as simply “Pak Ndut” and it is my go-to place for authentic Indonesian food and of course, the Deep Fried Duck.

They currently have 2 outlets in Singapore. One in Lucky Plaza and the other at Westgate.

It is a restaurant where I can eat their food almost every day and still have cravings after!

Crispy Deep Fried Duck

Pak Ndut’s signature Fried Duck is known for its crispy texture and unique blend of Indonesian spices, which includes a combination of turmeric, ginger, garlic, and coriander.

The duck is served with hot steamed rice and a variety of side dishes like fried tempeh and tofu, blanched kangkong vegetables, homemade sambal, and the kriuk (fried flour crumbs) for the added crunch.

I really love the fried duck with its crispy outer skin and tender meat inside that easily falls off the bone. Trawl the duck skin in the sambal and mix it all over the rice and you have one of the most savory, greasy, and fiery spicy dish humankind has to offer.

Finger Licking Goodness!

Side Dishes

Every time we head to Pak Ndut, Ann would always order the Fried Chicken instead with a couple of side dishes to go along with the meal.

Her go-to side dishes would always be the Sour Soup as well as the Kangkong Belachan.

The Indonesian Sour Soup made with mixed vegetables reminds her of her late grandmother’s cooking and has a homely feel for her.

The Kangkong Belachan is a type of water spinach or watercress cooked with shrimp paste and it is always a staple in Indonesian cuisine.

The one at Pak Ndut can be a little spicy and be sure to request to make it less spicy if you can’t handle the heat!

The Elusive Deep Fried Duck Skin

My all-time favourite side dish at Pak Ndut is the elusive Deep Fried Duck Skin. They are always constantly sold out every time Ann and I head to Pak Ndut.

On some rare occasions where we managed to get hold of it, I will devour the greasy, artery-clogging Deep Fried Duck Skin to the last bit of crumbs.  It is so good that I constantly have cravings for this addictive, oily goodness. I just hope that Pak Ndut constantly stocks this up!

Overall, Pak Ndut is my go-to place for Deep Fried Duck as well as the skin. They currently have 2 outlets and I pray that they will open more in the future, especially on the Northeast side. If you never tried duck or don’t like to eat duck, I recommend you to head to Pak Ndut to try some.

I believe it will be a gastronomic life-changing experience for you!

Try it and let us know.
