Our Relaxing Stay at The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur after a 12 hour drive from Sg
It was the June holidays and also our wedding anniversary. We are a family of four now and Ann and I decided to go on a short road trip up north to Kuala Lumpur for vacation as well as to test out our kids’ endurance while we drive up long distances.
We packed our bags, started our car, and left on the morning of June 6.
- Pro tip: June 6th is the current Malaysia Sultan’s birthday. It is a public holiday and everywhere on the roads up north to KL is massively packed with overseas and domestic tourists. Avoid at all costs driving up from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. 😛
It was a vacation we nearly regretted as it was the current Malaysia Sultan’s Birthday and the roads leading up to KL were all jam-packed.
The usual 4-5 hours drive took us 12 hours instead!
Our respite came when we reached our accommodation, The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur.
As soon as we reached The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, our kids just jumped onto the king-sized bed with wide smiles on their faces.
It was something we all needed after the long drive up.
The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur is no stranger to most travellers to Malaysia. It is a well-known 5-star hotel situated overlooking the city skyline as well as the KLCC park. KLCC mall is just next door; the place for all your shopping and gastronomic needs.
The air-conditioned rooms boast luxurious marble bathrooms with toiletries and separate showers and bathtubs.
Everything was just perfect!
The room is fitted with a Smart TV and a Bluetooth radio which Seth loves so much casting our Iphones on the TV to play all his favourite videos while snacking and laying on the bed.
As for me, I love the complimentary drinks from The Tapping Tapir.
My fave would be the pineapple and calamansi; a very refreshing drink made from fruits sourced in Malaysia. And I could not have enough of it.
Lucky for me, the room service person tops it up daily!
Every morning, we could not wait to head for breakfast. Ann just loves the array of buffet spread on offer.
The Nasi Lemak here too is the bomb! With a variety of dishes to complement the fragrant fluffy coconut-infused rice, Ann was spoiled for choice.
The breakfast buffet consists of continental and Asian cuisines too. And every day was a great gastronomic feast for breakfast.
As we were all too tired from all the driving, we cancelled all plans and just chill out in our room, have breakfast, a morning swim, and a walk at the KLCC park in the afternoons.
It was a great travel and family bonding session for Ann and me.
If only we could do this every day!
We had one relaxing time at The Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur after the long drive up from Singapore. One of the best stays we had in Kuala Lumpur.
Do check it out. We hope you have an amazing time like us.
