Our Amazing Brunch at Breakfast Thieves Kuala Lumpur

travel blog singapore, review of Breakfast Thieves Kuala Lumpur, brunch places in KL, cafes in KL, travel malaysia,

We love to start our day early on our holidays and the first thing we usually look out for will be coffee and food. While we were in Kuala Lumpur, Ann googled some brunch places to check out and one of them caught her attention.

Enter Breakfast Thieves Kuala Lumpur. They are the twin sister of the original Breakfast Thieves cafe in Fitzroy Melbourne, Australia. Listed as the top 5 cafes in Melbourne, the founders who are Malaysians decided to bring the cafe to the capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Breakfast Thieves KL is located in Bangsar housed in an old commercial printing factory and we just had to check it out. As we rented a car for this trip via Rental Cars we could easily Google map the location and away we went.

After getting a seat and settling down, we ordered our caffeine fix and looked through the menu. Breakfast Thieves Kuala Lumpur serves Australian cuisine with a touch of Asian influence and we cannot wait to see what is on offer.

Mr Terry Benedict

I ordered the 24-hour braised Aussie beef on wholemeal toast served with fresh baby spinach, crisp patatas, renkon chips, crisp kale, topped with poached eggs and finished with brown butter hollandaise sauce.

I was speechless. The braised beef was nicely tender akin to pulled beef. It was quite early in the morning and chewing was not on the top of my morning to do list. 😛

The crisp patatas, renkon chips and kale gave the dish a nice crunchy bite. The poached eggs with the hollandaise sauce complete the dish and make it a very fulfilling one.

I am one happy camper.

Gypsy King

Ann ordered the Citrus cured salmon, rosemary polenta logs served on a bed of creamed carrot & orange, renkon chips, cucumber chimichurri, eryngii mushroom, and a pair of poached eggs.

The well-embellished dish looks like a masterpiece and Ann could not stop taking photos from all angles. The cured salmon has a slightly salty taste but not overpowering. The bed of creamed carrot and orange gave the dish a nice balanced flavour to the otherwise dry dish as it was not topped with a sauce.

But overall, the dish was very filling and we were amazed at the quality and presentation of the dishes here at Breakfast Thieves.

Ann loved her dish so much she wants me to bring her to Breakfast Thieves again the next day!

You can check out Breakfast Thieves if you are in Kuala Lumpur. Do note, however, it is quite difficult to get to the location unless you grab a taxi or rented a car like us. Enjoy your brunch like we did and tell us about your experiences here.

Till next time. Safe travels wherever you are.
