Our Staycation at Village Hotel Katong

September was the holidays for Ann but I was busy with National Service Training that we did not have time to travel out of Singapore. Ann decided to have a staycation in one of our favourite food places, Katong, and as usual we got away with some amazing deals at Village Hotel Katong.

We checked in on the Saturday after the end of my In Camp Training and even though the haze was back in full force, that did not deter any of our staycation plans.

As soon as we reached Village Hotel Katong, we were greeted with pink  flower petals shower ala Cherry Blossoms. We felt as though we were transported to Japan but the warm weather and haze made it feel otherwise. 😛

We checked in to Village Hotel Katong and we felt blessed that the friendly front desk officer upgraded us to their Deluxe room with no extra charges.

A great start to our staycation!

Deluxe Room @ Village Hotel Katong

Village Hotel Katong is owned by Far East Hospitality. Our Deluxe air-conditioned non-smoking room comes with:

  • Balcony
  • Cable TV (but sadly there were no English Premier League football 🙁 )
  • Super Fast WiFi 🙂
  • Safety Deposit box
  • Mini Fridge
  • Tea/Coffee making facilities
  • Private Bathroom with Complimentary toiletries
  • Comfortable Queen sized bed

Village Hotel Katong has an outdoor pool, free airport shuttle as well as an in-house restaurant for all your gastronomic needs.

However, we opt out of the hotel’s breakfast as we planned to travel all over Katong for a little foodie adventure.

Below are some of the places we checked out during our stay.

Places to eat in Katong

Brawn & Brains

Village Hotel sits at the heart of Katong surrounded by malls, restaurants, cafes and tons of amenities.

The next day after a restful night, Ann and I woke up early and went out to search for breakfast. We are very familliar with Brawn & Brains that we decided to have our first meal of the day at their Katong outlet.

I opted for their amazing Banana Pulla, Cinnamon roll and a steaming cup of flat white to dip the pastries in while Ann went for the savoury eggs, toast topped with smoked salmon.

A great breakfast to start our day!

Project Acai

One of our favourite desserts to have in Katong is at Project Acai. We frequent this cafe at least once a month to fulfill our healthy superbowl pleasures.

Our superbowl of choice would be the Nuts for Acai bowl which consists of blended Acai base, topped with granola, bananas, cacao nibs, chia seeds and a choice of nut butters (almond, cashew, peanut and cookie).

We can never get enough of this dessert and we always fight to the last spoonful.

But of course I would always let Ann win.

Home of Seafood

Nothing beats the quality, freshness and delicious Chinese styled seafood cuisine in Singapore other than Home of Seafood. Located at 1 Joo Chiat Place in a quaint double storey shophouse, this restaurant have been serving great seafood dishes and raising the bar so high that no other competitors come close.

Ann have been craving for their signature Black Pepper Crabs and this is the only place in Singapore that we are assured of the quality, freshness and great tasting crabs.

The downside though is the high prices of this excellent great tasting food. Hey, you get what you pay for.

We ordered the Home of Seafood signature black pepper crabs and a serving of sweet-sour fish fillet. Cravings satisfied.

Happy wife = Happy Life.

After every meal, Ann and I would retreat back to Village Hotel Katong for a little nap. We did not bother to do any activities or sightseeing as we wanted to recharge ourselves from our daily grind.

We really had a great time relaxing at Village Hotel Katong as well as having a feast of time checking out cafes and restaurants. We would probably return to Village Hotel Katong for another little staycation again if we are short of time for any overseas travel.

Looking forward to another relaxing time soon.

Till next time…
